Hello Winter!

After three weeks of Sophie's Adventure Trip in China, she helped mum collecting wonderful and colourful leaves from the great autumn garden! Accompanied by cheerful songs from the birds, Sophie danced in in the garden and gathered the last few apples from the beautiful apple tree.

"Hello my dearest friends, look, here is your breakfast for tomorrow!" The squirrels were sitting on the apple tree; wagging their tails!

"Hi sweaty, winter is coming soon, are you already preparing your winter food? We would also love to help you prepare your letter for Father Christmas -you can tell him all your wishes! I will bring you a beautiful, lovely Christmas tree later. Make sure the father Christmas won't forget to put your gifts under the Christmas tree!"

While Sophie was chatting with the lovely squirrels, mum had been preparing a delicious potato soup and Sophie's beloved chocolate cake! A kind of mellow and pleasant smell was floating out of the kitchen!

"Little squirrels! Come and smell! Mum's cooking! I think that's it -the smell of the winter!!"

Zurich, Sophie's Rainbow City!

A late summer day after a huge rain. Sophie is on a boat trip across Lake Zurich. Shortly before arriving, a breath taking kind of big, shining and wonderful rainbow spans the lake. Sophie’s eyes open wide and excitedly she says, "A rainbow city!”

Today Sophie has found two great friends - Tom & Lisa from the rainbow city! Come and visit Tom & Lisa, open the treasure box of Sophie and dance together with them under the rainbow!

Sophie's Farm

Good morning, my sweet farm! Good morning, my friends!
I am happy to spend with you my weekends.
With the smiling sun, many things on our farm can be done.
Oh, we are going to have a lot of fun!

Sophie's Farm Kitchen!

Sophie went to the lovely farm vegetables garden with her papa and brought a full basket of fresh vegetables back to their cozy farm kitchen! Red sweet bell peppers, green sweet peppers, spring onions, cucumbers, and fresh balsamic... With mum together, she is listening to the pretty music and preparing her most favorable food - `Fried Rice Sophie‘s style`!

 

Serves 4-6 persons

Ingredients

• 2-3 cups of rice (Thailand rice), cooked
• 3 large eggs, scrambled
• 10-15 Prawns, cut into small bite-sized pieces
• 1 or 2 sausages (chicken), cut into small bite-sized pieces
• 2 small cucumbers (or half of a normal cucumber), cut into small bite-sized pieces
• half of a sweet red bell pepper and half of a sweet green pepper, cut into small bite-sized pieces
• 1 spring onion, sliced
• 2 garlic cloves, sliced
• a pinch of ginger, shredded
• a bit of fresh Balsamic
• 1-2 tablespoons Low-Salt Soy Sauce
• 1 tablespoon traditional Balsamic vinegar or Balsamic vinegar cream
• 1 teaspoon sugar

Preparation

1. Put the cut/prepared various vegetables in small bowls or on plate.
2. In a small bowl combine soy sauce, balsamic vinegar and sugar.
3. Heat wok over high heat. Add oil (2 tablespoons).
4. When oil begins to reach smoking point, add garlic, ginger, stir-fry 30 seconds.
5. Add prawns, stir-fry 1 minute, then fold in soy sauce mixture, stir-fry 2 minutes.
6. Add prepared vegetables, stir-fry 3 minutes, add salt if desired. Then take it out from wok, keep it in plate for later use.
7. Clean and heat wok over the high heat. Add oil (2 tablespoons).
8. Add cooked rice, when oil begins to reach smoking point add salt if desired, stir-fry 2-3 minute.
9. Add sausages, stir-fry 1 minute.
10. Add scrambled eggs, stir-fry 1 minute.
11. Add prepared prawns & vegetables back to wok, stir-fry 2-3 minutes.
12. Finally add the spring onion on top.
13. Keep the fried rice in bowl or on a plate, add fresh balsamic on top.
14. Serve hot.

Why blackberry? Simply because we live in “Brombeerweg” – translated from German as a Blackberry street! Blackberry is one of the very first fruits our Sophie knew – not only that she loved the taste of the blackberry juice, but she also learnt herself how to pick up blackberries despite the prickles hurting her. It may look simple, but even such story has a deeper meaning – growing up does not happen without obstacles, and the most we learn simply by doing. That´s life!

How it all began ...

Time is flying by, especially since I brought Sophie to this world. All those sleepless nights, all those daily worries and at the same time, all those surprises and sweet stories that have been enriching our lives ever since she´s with us... yes, our Sophie is growing up and as a mother I want nothing else only to catch all of the amazing moments and put them into a treasure box where they´d be safely stored.

Therefore, I decided to write a blog that accompanies each collection of Boutique Sophie with a special story and will help me to record all the highlights a life with a child brings.
